Another search engine to consider, Cuil

Cuil is a brand new search engine that went live on July 28, 2008. The name itself, Cuil, comes from an old Irish word, that means knowledge.

Created by Google’s ex-engineers, most notably Anna Patterson, an ex-Google architect responsible for Google’s large search index, TeraGoogle, that launched in early 2006. Anna, with her husband, Tom Costello, are the founders of Cuil.

Claimed to index more pages on the Web than anyone else, three times as many as Google and ten times as many as Microsoft, Cuil has potential to be a threat to Google and Microsoft as the current search engine leaders. Not to mention that the company raised $33 million from venture capital firms including Greylock, for further development of Cuil.
Will Cuil be the leader of search engine industry? Only time will tell.
